Balhousie Castle was built in the 17th century, but its origins are said to date back to the 12th century.

The castle was built in 1631 and its present form dates from the 1860s, but originally it was an L-shaped tower house. In the original Castle there is now the Black Watch Museum, with world class displays of Scotland’s oldest Highland regiment. The museum displays the history of the regiment from 1739 to the present.
